Vintage fashion show

Last week I was asked to do a vintage fashion show and I thought it would be fun to see what it's all about. Here are a few snapshots.

Hope you all had a great weekend! Mine consisted of packing and moving three years worth of stuff back home, and although I am really sad to leave my Massachusetts apartment adorned with vintage awesomeness, I am proud to say that I am officially a New Yorker. Again. Six weeks to graduation! The countdown starts NOW!!!

Trend Watch

As you probably noticed, I'm completely obsessed with fur. And if you haven't, I'll tell you I AM! This vest has gracefully made it through two seasons in my possession, and its lifespan is about to get even longer come this spring!
In November, I wore this fur vest when the temperatures were dropping like a hot potato, (oximoron?) and now as we are headed for brighter days and sunnier skies its a great transition into the new season without rapidly foregoing the fur.

Check out Style Goes Strong for great tips on perfecting the fur vest trend, as well as Harper's Bazaar inspirational street style looks from New York Fashion Week - fur vest included!

Quiet please

I have to admit, the last place I’d probably be found at on my time off is the library, and yet there I was. And it was amazing. There’s always that one encounter that has the potential to reshape your views, and for me it was the Brooklyn Central Library.
Designed to resemble an open book, the expansive library space is both inviting and mysterious. I could see myself spending hours upon hours roaming the isles and getting lost in them, and in my own thoughts. It’s kind of like shopping, except you won’t leave with any physical possessions, which isn’t all that bad. Sometimes bibliotherapy beats retail therapy.

Leather goods

Lately I've been trying out some new things and this week's flavor was Bikram Yoga. After mastering the 26 postures in a room heated to 105 degrees (and I use "mastering" very loosely), I felt that my mind and body were in total harmony, and I finally found my center. Funny thing, 'cause it's been missing for a while...

Since it's nearly impossible to reward your mind, I decided to reward my body for committing to and carrying out this very small, yet significant goal that I've set. Soooo, behold, this red vintage coat is my reward! It's not too often that I find a piece that fits just right, but this one made me feel like Cinderella. What a great way to relax your mind, rejuvenate your body, and replenish your personal vintage inventory! Try it sometime, Bikram's orders!
